Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is recognised as one of the country's leading defence partners and is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our diverse team at RAAF Base Amberley, QLD, in the role of Mission Planning Specialist/Team Lead. In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of Mission Planning specialists and Systems Administrators, ensuring the effective delivery of Mission Planning Systems outcomes for FA/18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircrew. This position offers a unique opportunity to support the Super Hornet and Growler aircraft, contributing to meaningful and rewarding mission planning outcomes.

Position Overview:

This position will actively utilise your strong leadership background, as you work with a team of dedicated and skilled system administrators in the delivery of Defence Operational Mission Planning Systems support to Australian defence Force Frontline fighters. You will combine strong team management skills and technical knowledge to prioritise the teams service delivery.

This role is based at RAAF Base Amberley.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide mission planning and debriefing support to F/A-18F & EA-18G aircrew as part of a collaborative mission delivery team.
  • Foster collaboration and communication across a multi-disciplined work environment.
  • Serve as an engaging facilitator, maximizing the potential of team members with varying levels of experience.
  • Plan, develop, and implement tailored solutions to technical challenges.
  • Be available for infrequent domestic and international travel to conduct relevant activities.
  • Support multiple software systems to establish a key BDA software development environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, systems, and software engineers throughout the engineering lifecycle to meet design and support requirements.


Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates may possess:

  • Prior experience in Operational Mission Planning Systems, ideally with a minimum of 3 years exposure in similar roles.
  • Proven leadership skills to effectively manage a team of Mission Planning Specialists and System Administrators.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, with the capacity to articulate complex concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Experience in classified defence environments.
  • Australian citizenship to meet defence security requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain up to Top Secret (Positive Vetting) Security Clearance.

Desirable Skills:

Familiarity with the following is advantageous:

  • Systems Administration and support for Corporate and Secret environments.
  • Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Network configuration and management.
  • Cyber Security certification.
  • Knowledge of the ISM/PSPF Frameworks.
