Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is a leading provider of integrated military aviation solutions, supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with advanced sustainment, engineering, and maintenance services. As a trusted partner in aviation safety, we are seeking an experienced Quality Manager - DASA Part 145 to lead our Quality Assurance and Compliance function within our Defence-approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) and as part of our wider Quality Function working across 21G, 21J and our AS9110 certification.

This is a critical leadership role reporting to the Sustainment Operations Quality Manager and responsive to the Part 145 Accountable Manager. This rolerequires regulatory expertise, operational oversight, and a proactive approach to ensuring compliance with DASA Part 145 regulations. The successful candidate will be the Quality Form-4 holder for Boeing Defence Australia's Part 145 maintenance approvals, ensuring airworthiness and regulatory excellence across multiple aircraft programs including the F/A-18 Super Hornet, C-17 Globemaster and EC135 Helicopter.


Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Airworthiness

  • Act as the DASR 145 Form-4 Quality Manager, ensuring compliance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR).
  • Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all maintenance activities meet airworthiness and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with DASR 145.A.60 Occurrence Reporting, DASR 145.A.42 Component Acceptance, and all applicable maintenance regulations.

Audit & Surveillance Program Management

  • Develop and contribute to the internal audit programs, ensuring efficiency and alignment with DASA and Boeing AS9110 quality requirements.
  • Lead regulatory DASA surveillance audits, addressing findings and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the supplier quality team to ensure Part 145 requirements compliance and ensure effective risk-based auditing practices.

Continuous Improvement & Safety Leadership

  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the maintenance organisation.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and improve human factors management.
  • Lead change management initiatives to enhance maintenance and quality processes.

Stakeholder & Leadership Engagement

  • Interface with Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA), Commonwealth stakeholders, and Boeing Responsible Managers to ensure ongoing compliance and regulatory alignment.
  • Provide strategic advice to leadership on risk management, airworthiness issues, and quality improvements.
  • Lead, mentor and delegate with the team of quality assurance professionals, ensuring high standards of regulatory knowledge and operational excellence.
  • Provide valuable insights and advice across the Maintenance Teams looking for continual improvement and efficiency opportunities.

About You - Skills & Qualifications

5+ years proven experience in Defence aviation maintenance quality management, with a strong understanding of DASA Part 145 regulations.
✔ Previous approval as a DASA Part 145 Quality Manager (Form-4 Holder) or equivalent regulatory role is highly desirable.
✔ Strong background in aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and airworthiness within a Defence or highly regulated environment.
✔ Expertise in audit management, risk-based quality assurance, and safety investigations (ICAM or equivalent RCA methods).
✔ Experience working with Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA), CASA, or equivalent international aviation safety regulators.
✔ Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across multiple levels of the organisation.
Diploma in Quality Auditing required.
Tertiary qualifications in aviation, engineering, quality management, or safety-related disciplines or Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) experience preferred.
