The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia is one of the largest Defence contractors to the Australian government.

We are seeking an experienced ICT Installation Technician for a role like no other. Working in a high security environment, you will join our Project Management Team and perform a range of ICT installation and integration responsibilities, primarily in a data centre environment. You will also contribute to the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects and assist in managing subcontractors and project work sites.

You will be making a meaningful contribution in supporting the capabilities of our National Security Community customer, the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

Responsibilities:

  • Install structured cabling systems (including optical fibre, copper, Cat6) and perform testing and commissioning.
  • Install communications equipment racks and associated network hardware and servers.
  • Perform configuration management tasks to manage physical communications infrastructure.
  • Contribute to project planning and execution, including overseeing the work of subcontractors and other suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the installation of cabling systems and ICT hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation (including cabling plans, equipment rack elevation diagrams, installation instructions and standards).
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Motivation and ability to gain project management qualifications and experience (support and training will be provided).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to WH&S and workplace diversity.
  • User level experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Physical ability to complete manual tasks, work in restricted spaces, at heights, and outdoors.
  • Desirable but not essential:
    • Technical or trade qualification in a relevant discipline (Electrical / Telecommunications / Electronics and RF communications).
    • ACMA open cabling registration with structured cabling, coaxial, and fibre optic endorsements.
    • Experience in hand-over/take-over processes.
    • Experience using AutoCAD, Visio or CableSolve.
    • Construction work site management or supervision experience.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Australian Government security requirements.

You will be required to successfully undergo an Australian Government positive vetting (PV) security clearance. You MUST be willing to disclose all required information and MUST have the ability to verify your background for whole of life (i.e. birth to present time).
